Introduction
Tucked along the Moselle River, Cochem is a fairytale brought to life, where vine-covered hills and half-timbered houses set the scene for romance. The majestic Reichsburg Castle, perched high above, offers sweeping views of the valley, while the town’s medieval streets lead to charming cafés and wine taverns. A boat ride along the river reveals terraced vineyards producing some of Germany’s finest Rieslings. Whether you're tasting local wines, cycling along scenic trails, or wandering through the Bundesbank Bunker, Cochem is a storybook escape waiting to be explored.
Day 1 Itinerary

Morning: Strolling Through Cochem’s Old Town
Start your day by exploring Cochem’s charming Altstadt (Old Town), with its colorful half-timbered houses, medieval squares, and cobblestone streets. Walk through Marktplatz, the heart of the town, where you’ll find the beautiful Baroque Town Hall and the lively atmosphere of small cafés and boutique shops.

Hidden Gem: Stop by the Capuchin Monastery, perched on a hill, for a quiet moment away from the crowds and fantastic views over the Moselle Valley.

Lunch:
Enjoy a traditional lunch at Zom Stüffje, a rustic restaurant known for its hearty Rhineland dishes. Try the Sauerbraten (marinated pot roast) or Flammkuchen (German-style pizza), paired with a glass of local Riesling.

Afternoon: Visiting Reichsburg Castle
Make your way up to the Reichsburg Castle, Cochem’s most famous landmark. The climb is steep but rewarding, offering breathtaking views over the Moselle River. Join a guided tour to explore the castle’s ornate halls, medieval armory, and romantic courtyards. The fairytale-like architecture makes it one of the most picturesque castles in Germany.

Hidden Gem:If you have extra time, take the chairlift (Cochemer Sesselbahn) to the Pinnerkreuz Viewpoint for a panoramic view of the entire town and river.

Dinner:
Dine at Weinstube Hieronimi, a cozy riverside restaurant specializing in regional wines and seasonal German dishes. Their grilled fish, freshly caught from the Moselle, is a must-try.

Drinks:
End the evening with a drink at Weingut Kloster Ebernach, a historic winery where you can sample local Rieslings in an atmospheric cellar.
