Introduction
Day 1 Itinerary
Morning:
Depart Luxembourg early in the morning and drive to Château de Chambord, one of the most famous castles in the Loire Valley. On your way, take a break in Orléans for a quick visit to Place du Martroi and the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix. Arriving at Chambord, the first thing to admire is the grandeur of its exterior, with its distinctive Renaissance architecture, turrets, and the expansive moat surrounding it. Take a few moments for a guided tour of the château, exploring its vast rooms, art collections, and the famous double-helix staircase that allows two people to ascend or descend without ever meeting. Afterward, take a leisurely walk around the grounds, visiting the gardens and nearby woodlands.
Lunch:
Dine at the Château’s restaurant, Le Grand Saint-Michel, which offers delicious French cuisine in a refined setting.
Afternoon:
After lunch, explore the Château’s park, which spans 13,000 acres, perfect for a peaceful stroll or bike ride. Rent a bike or a horse-drawn carriage to discover the park's beauty. Visit the Château’s hunting lodge, and if you’re visiting in the spring or summer, make sure to check out the flower garden near the château. If you're interested in history, stop by the museum in the château to learn more about the architectural evolution of Chambord.
Evening:
Check-in at your chosen hotel, relax, and enjoy dinner at a local French bistro, such as Le Relais de Chambord, offering regional specialties.
